Each year seems to slip away faster, doesn’t it? When I was young, summer felt both too long and too short. By late August in the Midwest, I was already back in school with my mind calculating how long it would be until winter break. It will be here far sooner than any of us—especially us busy adults—would care to admit.
A few movies I like watching this time of year that feel like End of Summer/Transition into Fall:
The Parent Trap (1998, dir. Nancy Meyers)
Now & Then (1995, dir. Lesli Linka Glatter)
Indian Summer (1993, dir. Mike Binder)
Dirty Dancing (1997, dir. Emile Ardolino)
Adventureland (2009, dir. Greg Mottola)
The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999, dir. Anthony Minghella)
Summertime (1955, dir. David Lean)
September is split astrologically by earthy, precise Virgo and airy, playful Libra, giving us a natural “work hard, play hard” balance to lean into. Where Virgos can sometimes get bogged down in details, plans, and schedules, Libra says, “chill out, enjoy yourself, have a sense of humor!” On the other hand, when Libra is being indecisive or procrastinating, Virgo says “just do the work and if you need a hand, ask!” Maintaining this balance can be tricky, but if you can do it, you’ll set a tone for the rest of the fall.
Let’s get a general message for everyone this month from my Moonology deck:
Sometimes, we need to just jump into action when we want to change our situation (New Moon in Aries). Doing something is often better than thinking our way out of doing anything at all. But if you want longer-lasting results, you need a plan or you’ll burn out. If you’ve been feeling discouraged by what feels like a slow down of your progress/momentum, know that everything you’ve done so far has led you to this moment (New Moon in Capricorn), and if you stay the course, you’ll see just how much you’ve accomplished in time. Change is never easy but nothing worth doing ever is (Full Moon in Capricorn). When passion (fire signs) meets determination (earth signs), there’s nothing you can’t do!
Now, let’s look at the message for each element (earth, air, water, fire). You should read the messages for both your Sun and Rising signs. If you don’t know what your rising sign is, you can generate your birth chart here (you will need to know your exact time and location of birth).
