After an extended hiatus, monthly tarot readings are back! September is back-to-school season and what better time to consult the cards to see what lessons we need to learn? I always think of fall as a fresh start even though it signals that the year is beginning to wind down. Fall is harvest season, which allows us to reap all we’ve sown over the past year(s), reflect on our bounties, and prepare to plant once more. Though it’s technically still summer until the Fall Equinox on September 22nd this year (which is also the last day of Virgo season), most of us have mentally and spiritually shifted to Fall following Labor Day weekend. Maybe I’m biased since my solar return happens in November each year, kicking off a new year of life for me, but Fall’s crisp energy puts a spring back in my step after the lethargy of summer. You don’t have to wait til January to set new goals for yourself; a change of season is just as good.

I love these lyrics from “Featherweight” on Fleet Foxes’ most recent album Shore:

May the last long year be forgiven
All that war left within it
I couldn't, though I'm beginning to
And we only made it together
Feel some change in the weather
I couldn't though I'm beginning to

And somehow I see it's free

And with love and hate in the balance
One last way past the malice
One warm day is all I really need

Maybe all you need is one warm day to reflect. The weather is changing and so are you.
